Stained or discolored teeth are very common among adults of all ages, and come from a variety of sources, such as:
Those of us with stained teeth tend to brush more vigorously; this can remove the enamel from your teeth, causing further discoloration and serious dental problems. Others use over-the-counter whitening kits, but they don't have the prescription strength and lasting effects of a professional teeth-whitening procedure.
The key to a long lasting, bright, white smile is to have them whitened by a cosmetic dentist before discoloration becomes too severe. Whether you choose an in-office or at-home procedure, you can be sure to receive solid advice, professional care, and a smile that will knock their socks off!

TMJ dysfunction and Bruxism can be treated. TMJ disorders, or “TMJ Syndrome” as it is sometimes called, affect the temporomandibular joint. This joint, located near the ear, is the point where the lower and upper jaw meet. The joint is one of the most frequently used joints in the body, and is used when talking, chewing, biting, yawning, or performing any action that requires the mouth to open or close.
TMJ disorders can cause a multitude of symptoms, including headaches, facial pain, ear pain, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), stiffness, dizziness, clicking or popping sounds, problems with bite, limited opening of the mouth and even a locked jaw. The disorder can be caused by a variety of factors, including misalignment of teeth, stress, teeth grinding, trauma to the jaw, or habitual biting of nails or chewing of gum, among other factors.
There are a number of different treatment options for TMJ disorders, and the type of treatment option that is most effective will depend in part on the cause of the problem, how long it has been going on, how severe it is, etc. Some of the TMJ treatment options we offer include corrective dental therapies to properly align the teeth. This can include orthodontics, adjustments of crowns or bridges, or even referral for surgery if the problem is severe. Another option is occlusal therapy, in which a custom-made mouth guard is used to reduce the incidence of clenching and teeth grinding. This can reduce symptoms of TMJ. We can also help patients determine other effective courses of TMJ treatment, including physical therapy, stress management and medications.
